2010 Trophy Club MGA Top 40

For 2009 the MGA will have a Top 40 competition.  The Top 40 in points, and ties, at the end of the MGA season will participate in an 18-hole tournament on Saturday, November 14, 2009.  Full handicaps will apply and the competition will be only the one flight.  Prize money will be allocated to a First Place Gross and a First Place NET and all other places (38) will be NET scores only. All participants will play the same tees. The MGA board will allocate funding for the Top-40 by allocation of $5.00 from each tournament entry fee. The total allocation, less expenses, will go towards prize payouts.

To qualify for the Top 40, players will be awarded points throughout the year for tournament participation and points for tournament results.

The final qualifying list and start times will be posted in the Pro-Shop by Wednesday, November 10, 2010 and on this web site.  The pro shop will make an effort to contact all qualifying participants and the MGA will attempt to notify participants via eMail; however, ultimately it is the responsibility of the players themselves to check the list and be available for the tournament.  Cancellations and 'no-shows' will not be back-filled; Those who do not participate will receive their share of last place monies. Top-40 ties will be resolved via USGA methodology, but ties for 1st gross or 1st net will be resolved via a sudden-death playoff.

The following is the point system for the Top 40:  For Top-40 results....click here

For example, a player playing in 7 MGA tournaments and finishing no better than 6th will be awarded 19 points.

The only variation is for the 3-format, 2-man Member/Member - member/Guest. 1st and 2nd places for each format (each flight) will be awarded 3 and 2 points respectively. 1st and 2nd place overall winners (each flight) will be awarded 5 and 3 points respectively.

Ties will be awarded a pro-rata share of the total points for the tied places.  However, the minimum points awarded will be 1 point.  (Example:  If in the 4-man tournament column above two teams tie for 5th place each player will get 1 point instead of 1/2 point.).  In tournaments formats that pay both first net and first gross places, both will receive the 1st place points with the next place receiving second, and so on through 5th.

After each tournament, the results and cumulative points standing will be posted on this site.  To access the posting, use the links on the left of the page.
